When we started smsweb 5 years ago, we wanted to do two things - give something back to the community and South Africa as a whole, and also create a viable and sustainable business for ourselves and our employees.  Since we started the service our technology has had some remarkable effects, with schools regularly telling us that they have seen;

• Massive improvements in learner discipline;
• Truancy decreasing, and better attendance of learners;
• Parents getting more involved in their children’s education;
• Teachers reporting better interaction with parents and attendance at meetings.

3 years ago we introduced our Unlimited* service. This gave schools a reliable SMS service they could effectively budget for without worrying about how many credits they had left or what their SMS bill would be for the next month.

As more schools have realised the benefits and value of using our service, we have also seen a dramatic increase in SMS usage and now send over 1 million SMS’s every month to parents and teachers across the country.
